The ‘Cycle’ of Life(Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers)

Honey, Do you see that old bicycle there? My father had gifted that to me on my 10th birthday. He had said “Son, if you don’t work hard, you will end up riding a bicycle for the rest of your life, while your friends will be driving BMW.” Those words stuck in my young mind. That bicycle was my only mode of transport when I went to college, did my paper routes and attended my first job interview. Now,  I am an affluent person with a fleet of cars and a house full of servants. Yesterday, when I went to the doctor complaining about my chest pain, he said “Start exercising.  Do cycling everyday!” What can I say?

  1. Ah, great story! Reminded me of the book The White Tiger, where the narrator says that “all poor people want to look rich, and all rich people want to look poor” (in terms of their bellies that is) 🙂

I'm all ears. Tell me.
