“From today, you are on the bench.” ,the manager informed Sheila.
Sheila is working in a consulting firm. ‘Being on the bench’ means she wouldn’t have work for a few weeks. She would be still paid but she may get laid-off at any moment since she is not working on any project. Already she was waiting for a lot of stuff to happen in her life and this news that she has to wait for work made her sick. She was waiting to inform her parents about her boyfriend. She was waiting to get a better job. She was waiting to write a book. In fact, she was waiting for a perfect time to start working on all these. Today, as she sat on the lonely bench in the office campus, she made up her mind to take control of her life instead of waiting for life to happen to her. She prioritized her list – ‘ 1. New Job 2. Love 3. Book’ and determined to tackle them one by one.

Sounds like Shiela potentially losing her job was the push she needed to go after the things she valued most in life. Great take on the bench prompt.
Thanks a lot,Amanda 🙂
That is wonderful! She has decided to take something negative and turn it into three positives. I’m hoping they all work out for her. Great story, Jahnavi!
Good for her. Sometimes we need a kick in the rear to get us motivated again.
I agree with you, Jenn. Thanks for reading and commenting on the post 🙂
Hope everything works out for her while she is chasing the dreams 🙂
I like the priorities, well done…
Thanks a lot 🙂
When one door closes, another one opens. Here’s wishing her the best with all the doors she opens.
Thanks for your wishes to Sheila. I hope she will be successful in achieving her goals 🙂
I love how you used both the physical bench and the saying “be on the bench”. Super creative!
Thanks a lot,Jade.
Oh the eternal bench…it’s quite long in some firms I hear 😀 Clever interpretation of the photo!
Thanks, Uday. I had worked in Software for so long that the moment I saw the photo of a ‘bench’ , I was reminded of ‘being on the bench’ 🙂
Sheila is a woman with a goal and a plan to achieve her goals! I respect women like that! 🙂
Thanks, Rashmi 🙂
Good for her. I like her determination to make a change in her life.
A unique take on the prompt. Glad she’s able to remain optimistic despite all the setbacks. Very motivational story! 🙂
She has a lot of thinkin’ to do on this bench!
