She had been waiting for her date at that park for the past one hour. The sand trickling from the hourglass confirmed the passage of time. She called his mobile but it was switched off. Concluding that he stood her up, she fumed at herself and started to leave. That’s when he showed up panting!
“Sorry, sweetheart. My colleague’s mom had a massive heart attack a few hours ago. I was with him in the hospital till now. Luckily, my blood group matched hers and I donated my blood for the surgery. Sorry again!”
His unbounded love melted her heart.

Word count:100
Each week, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple hosts Friday Fictioneers where we’re challenged to write a piece of flash fiction in 100 words, more or less, based on the picture above.
Thank you Rochelle for this challenge.
That’s very gracious and kind of him. I hope he is telling the truth 😉
Aww, I thought it was so kindhearted and good of him and how we are always so quick to be mad at someone – now you have casts doubts that he is even telling the truth. 🙂 lol
Of course he is telling the truth though it’s hard to believe that such people do exist.
Oh good, Im relieved
I once knew a perennial liar and he always sounded so sincere 😉
Some of them believe their lies 🙂
Of course it’s true. The story is based on a real life incident 🙂
Ah I see. Sweet romance 🙂
What a great guy. Just checking, he’s not making up a big excuse for being late is he?
He is a selfless guy and is telling the truth 🙂
So glad that she didn’t get mad and stomp off! Let’s hope is is telling the truth! I would love him all the more.
Wow! My hero! She could never be angry with such a lovely man. 🙂
True😊
He’s almost too good to be true, but since it’s true, she is extremely lucky, what a great guy.
Dear Jahnavi,
I’d say he had a good reason for being late. He’s a keeper.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks a lot for your comments, Rochelle 🙂
Lovely write up dear… You say it is real life. Now let me guess about the guy… Your hubby? 😉
🙂 Thanks, Shivangi.
Such an endearing piece… love it!
Thanks a lot, Lori, for your wonderful compliments.
My pleasure, Jahnavi 🙂
