Like Windows,I’m at version 10!

Software gets obsolete as soon as a new version is released.

I can say that my life is like a software. Every time I enter a new phase of my life, the previous one becomes out-dated.

A Mommy’s dilemma

Today, when I looked around the room, I was astonished.

The living room was messy with bits of paper here and there, crayons and color pencils were scattered everywhere, TV remote was on the window sill and a water bottle was one the sofa. Dining table chairs were dragged to the middle of the room. No object in the room was where it was supposed to be.All that indicated that my daughter was feeling bored.  Yes. That’s what she does when she has nothing interesting to do.That reminded me of my childhood.

As a child,

I used to scatter my toys all over the house.

I used to take long naps in the afternoon and stayed up late at night.

I used to watch TV without completing my homework.

I used to cry in the theater if the movie was boring.

I didn’t like going to school.

Now, when I see my daughter doing the same, I can’t accept that.

I am compelled to say ‘Sweetie, Behave yourself!’.

Oh! What a hypocrisy!

Should I get angry at my child’s behavior?

Or Should I feel proud that she got all my ‘qualities’? 🙂

To live forever:Write

Have you ever wondered yourself at the end of your life? What sort of legacy will you leave?

For me, the unequivocal answer is “I want to write great books and they will be my legacy.”

I admire the work of Ayn Rand, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Jane Austen. I wonder how these legendary writers managed to write books which are read with the same fervor, decades after their first publication.I always dream of being such a writer whose books are passed from one generation to other.

According to me, to write is to live forever. Writers are immortal. I dream of being one!

I came across these wonderful lines which resonate my thoughts

“It’s amazing that a man who is dead can talk to people through these pages. As long as this books survives, his ideas live.”
Christopher Paolini, Eragon

So true!

What’s your opinion? What do you think will be your legacy?

A Hollow Marriage

Rain water trickled unnoticed , into a miniscule fissure in the foundation.  Everything appeared fine on the surface.  They brought their dream house recently with huge bank loan. Years were passing by swiftly. He went to work early in the morning and came late in the evening, working for long hours. She managed her career, kids and home. They looked like a happy couple, at least to an outsider.

But, over the years, they built their own worlds – He and his work; she , her career and her kids. They never argued, they never had a fight; what was there to debate when one doesnot know what the other was doing. The silence at the dinner table and the growing differences between them went almost invisible. One some rare occasions, when he wanted to take her out for dinner, she was busy with her office work; when she wanted to go on a family vacation, he had to go on a business trip. Meanwhile, the kids grew up and left home to lead their own lives.

Now after two decades, when they were alone in their dream home, they felt as if they were two strangers living under the same roof. That’s when they realized that they no longer needed each other. For first time in their married life, they both agreed upon one thing – that is, time has come to break up. On that day, it was raining heavily and finally the crack showed up on the wall.
